Abstract

Objective To investigate the perceived professional benefits and job embeddedness so as to analyze the correlations among them and intent to stay in nurses. Methods By convenience sampling, from 1st January to 30th March 2019, we selected 250 nurses at a Class Ⅲ hospital in Shijiazhuang as subjects. The survey with questionnaires were carried out with the general information questionnaire, the Nurses' Perceived Professional Benefits Scale, Job Embeddedness Questionnaire and Chinese version Nurses' Intention to Stay Questionnaire. Results Among 236 nurses, the total scores of the nurses' perceived professional benefits, intention to stay and job embeddedness were (136.79±19.14) , (18.28±1.63) and (62.05±7.6) , in the intermediate level . Nurses' intention to stay had positive correlations with the perceived professional benefits (P<0.001) as well as job embeddedness (P<0.01) . The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that, age, education, professional title, position, nursing age, night shift, number of attendance, monthly income, perceived professional benefits, and job embeddedness level were the main influencing factors of nurses' intention to stay (P<0.05) . Conclusions Nurses' intention to stay is in the intermediate level which has a large room for improvement. Nursing managers could adjust management policies, improve nurses perceived professional benefits and job embeddedness based on the influencing factors to improve their intent to stay so as to ensure the healthy and stable development of nursing work.
