Abstract

Expressions are obtained for the energy distribution of fastnon-relativistic outgoing electrons resulting from double photoionizationof helium by high-energy photons, taking into account both final stateinteraction and quasi-free mechanisms. In these expressions the behaviourof the energy spectrum is sensitive to the choice of the initial statewavefunction. The magnitude of the distribution in the centre of thespectrum is much reduced by correlation effects. We also analyse thecorresponding results which have been obtained by other authors.
