Abstract

The Pecan Gap chalk of East Texas has been correlated, in previous publications,(FOOTNOTE 3) with the Annona chalk of northeastern Texas and southern Arkansas. Detailed surface mapping of a belt of Cretaceous rocks in eastern and northeastern Texas shows that the Pecan Gap chalk thins and disappears north and east and that the Wolfe City sand, which underlies the Pecan Gap chalk, is to be correlated with the Annona chalk.
