Abstract

In 4 years 130 postmetamorphic T. spelaeus were collected systematically from one cave in southeastern Missouri. From these, and others observed but not collected, information was obtained on the reproduction, seasonal abundance and feeding habits of this troglobitic salamander. Peak abundance was in the spring and summer (April-July) when rock walls were wettest, food organisms most abundant and feeding success of salamanders greatest, and when courtship and insemination apparently occurred. Comparison is made to specimens and data reported by Hendricks and Kezer (1958) from a cave in Laclede Co., Mo.
