Abstract

Tissue processed for scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in a critical point bomb utilizing Freon-13 showed excellent subsurface preservation when prepared for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The critical point method is the only commercially available SEM preparation technique in which the quality of preservation will not limit microscopists in efforts to correlate SEM and TEM observations.
