Abstract

Objective To study the correlation between hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α),vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) protein expression and part of multi-slice CT (MSCT) signs in clear cell renal carcinoma (CCRCC).Methods The expression of HIF-1α and VEGF protein was detected by using the immunohistochemical method in 42 cases of CCRCC and MSCT signs were observed. Results In 42 cases of CCRCC,the positive expression rate of HIF-1α and VEGF protein expression was 78.6% (33/42) and 80.9% (34/42) respectively. The expression levels of HIF-1α and VEGF proteins were correlated with MSCT showing tumor size (≤4 cm,>4 cm),the degree of enhancement (≤30 Hu,>30 Hu),liquefaction necrosis, tumor boundary, vascular invasion, and lymph node or organ metastasis (P < 0.01),but not with the scan density (P > 0.05).Conclusion The expression of HIF-1 α and VEGF protein had relationship with the occurrence and development of CCRCC.The biological behaviors and angiogenesis in CCRCC can be judged according to the MSCT signs to some extent.
