Abstract

Electrochemical data of a Fe(II)/Fe(III) redox couple in the presence of amino acids and/or catecholamines have been mutually correlated by using modern apparatus of chemometry. By using cluster analysis, fourteen samples characterized by twelve experimental parameters have been classified into three main classes according their “distances”. The principal component analysis (PCA) interrelates the set of experimental parameters according to their similarities. Peak currents (Ipa, Ipc) and the diffusion coefficients (Dox, Dred) are closely related as confirmed by the PCA biplots and the pair correlation coefficients. Using electrochemical data, the probability neural network offers a classification of the studied species into three groups.
