Abstract

A correlation between normal carotid blood pressure and isometric muscle tone over a 2-minute period of artificial stimulation was established. The blood pressure was lowered with histamine and Mecholyl with the correlation noted along with a decrease in muscle tone. The blood pressure was raised with epinephrine and Pitressin with the correlation noted along with an increase in muscle tone. All results were subjected to statistical analysis with significant results noted. No difference was noted between decerebrate and animals under sodium pentobarbital anesthesia.
