Abstract
The s-wave bi-electronic wave function for double polarons is analyzed, with special attention to its factorizability in relative and centre-of-mass co-ordinate. In contrast to atomic physics, we find that this factorization may be energetically favored. This effect is crucially related to the non-linear character of the polaronic wave-equation. Some possible consequences for the many-body, low-density problem are briefly outlined. The concept of coherent tunneling in the centre-of-mass space is introduced as a possible mechanism for superconductivity.
