Abstract

Percolation processes on the fractal structure of coal char are simulated through implementing a different occupation algorithm for both ordinary percolation and invasion percolation. The parameters about the pore network structure of coal char particle are measured by nitrogen isotherm adsorption/desorption and SEM methods. Based on the correlation between the fractal dimension and the porosity of a porous solid, fractal models are constructed to represent coal and char particles respectively. Using Monte-Carlo method, random numbers with the similar distribution as that of pore radii are assigned to the fractal lattice sites. The processes on the fractal structure of model are studied with the help of ordinary and invasion percolation simulation. Critical parameters for coal and char particles varying with different situations are discussed.
