Abstract

The effect of glass formers, P and B, on the Young's modulus of a number of metal-metalloid glasses are reported. Young's modulus and glass temperature of inter-transition metal glasses, Nb--Ni and Zr--Cu, are presented. Elastic constants of the metallic glasses correlate somewhat to atomic ordering. The Young's moduli were obtained by measuring the transit time of a 100 kHz Young's modulus sound wave traveling in the sample.
