Abstract
SummaryUltrasonic, laparoscopic, histological and biochemical indices of ovulation were correlated in 20 spontaneous ovulatory cycles. The results show that in 75 per cent of the cycles, all parameters were perfectly correlated. In 25 per cent of instances luteinised unruptured follicles and poor luteal phase endometrium were encountered. These findings may partly explain the relative infertility of the human race and many cases of apparently unexplained infertility. The implications of these findings on the prediction and detection of ovulation are discussed.
