Abstract

The correlation between the diametral wear of a small arms barrel and the bullet structure of a sniper cartridge is presented. For a monolithic bullet, it is possible to separate two typical segments of barrel wear, and for a full-jacketed bullet there are three segments. These phenomena are explained in terms of physical laws.
