The measured and calculated intensities of the 6300 Å emission are compared on the basis of the measured Doppler temperature and intensity of the red emission during night and twilight and the F 2 layer parameters. There is satisfactory correlation between them for the quiet geomagnetic periods ( Kp⩽ 2).
