Abstract
The inter-relationship of surface tension σ, molar volume V, and critical temperature T c has been examined using experimental values for eighteen liquid metals. Hard-sphere diameters a correlate with the equation a 5 / 2 = 8.9733 × 10 −19 V ( σ / T c ) 1 / 4 − 1.0459 × 10 −25 . Unknown T c may be estimated using surface tension and liquid density values.
