Abstract

A fractal model allowing a sufficiently exact quantitative description of gas solubility in polymers is developed. The solubility coefficient is determined by the following two factors: size and orientation of dissolving-gas molecules and interaction of these molecules with the polymer structure. The latter factor has the most pronounced effect on the solubility coefficient.
