Abstract

Deformation of circular thin plate structures could provide a low cost device for modulating the wavefront of an optical system. This article reports the performance of a simple circular plate structure with different boundary conditions and loading. The relationship between the Zernike polynomial and deformation mode for this device is revealed, and the recommendation on using this type of device is discussed.
