Abstract

Objective To explore the status quo of perceived organizational climate, subjective well-being and work engagement of pediatric nurses in Northeastern China, analyze their correlation and provide a basis and reference for stabilizing the pediatric nursing team. Methods Totally 250 pediatric nurses from 5 ClassⅢ Grade A hospitals in Northeastern China working from June to October 2018 were selected by convenient sampling. A cross-sectional study was conducted on them with the general information questionnaire, perceived organizational climate scale, well-being index scale and work engagement scale. Totally 250 questionnaires were distributed, and 246 valid questionnaires were collected, with a valid collection rate of 98.4%. Results The perceived organizational climate of the 246 pediatric nurses totaled (89.64±8.70) , with the dimensions of team behavior and quality management scoring the highest and the dimension of resource guarantee scoring the lowest; the well-being index and work engagement totaled (8.55±1.43) and (26.52±4.05) , both standing at a medium level, with the dimension of dedication scoring the highest and the dimension of vitality score the lowest. Correlation analysis revealed that work engagement, well-being index and perceived organizational climate were positively correlated with each other (P<0.05) . According to multivariate linear regression analysis, perceived organizational climate, team behavior, resource guarantee, well-being index, life satisfaction, age, working years and professional title were the influencing factors to work engagement (P<0.05) . Conclusions The perceived organizational climate, subjective well-being and work engagement of the pediatric nurses in Northern China stand at a medium level. There is positive correlation between the three. The better the perceived organizational climate, the higher the subjective well-being and the work engagement.
