Abstract

Objective To analyze the correlation between social adaptability and anxiety and depression.by investigating nurse students' social adaptability and psychological and psychic state before field practice and finding out the incidence of anxiety and depression in order to provide the countermeasure.Methods 510 nurse students before field practice were investigated by on-the-spot survey with questionnaires (SDS, SAS and measuring scale on social adaptability).Results 194 students (38.04%) in this group felt various degrees depressed.116 students (22.75%) with a self-evaluation grade of over 50 had anxiety to various degrees.292students (57.26%) had a lower grade than 17 on social adaptability.The result showed that nurse students with poor social adaptability were liable to feel anxious(β = -0.21 ,t = -4.95, P <0.01) and depressed(β = -0.37,t = - 9.11,P < 0.01).Conclusions Nurse students' social adaptability has correlation with incidence of anxiety and depression, effective measures for improving their social adaptability should be provided in order to reduce the incidence of anxiety and depression.
