Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and prognostic significance of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH) in lung cancer. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to detect GAPDH expression in 201 lung cancer tissues, and the relationship between GAPDH expression with clinieopathologic factors and prognosis was also assessed. Results The high-expression rate of GAPDH in squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, lung large cell carcinoma and small cell lung cancer was 81.3%,44.4%,64.7% and 71.4%,respectively (P<0.01).GAPDH expression was closely correlated with differentiation, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage (P <0.05).Kaplan-Meier univariate survival analysis revealed that GAPDH expression, histological type, differentiation, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage were related to the prognosis in lung cancer (P < 0.05).Multivariate survival analysis showed that GAPDH expression, histological type, differentiation and TNM stages could be used as independent prognostic factors in lung cancer. Conclusion GAPDH expression is significantly associated with prognosis of patients with lung cancer. Key words: Glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase; Lung cancer; Prognosis
