Abstract

ABSTRACT 117 rock slopes distributed in 15 lanes of railroad in Korea were investigated to assess the stability and to take the safety measures. The slopes in railroads were relatively small in scale and almost not reinforced compared to those in the roads for vehicles. The slopes were classified into five classes according to the failure risk. Correlation between geological factors such as rock formation or rock type and slope geometry and failure risk has been analyzed.
