Abstract

Objective To explore the correlation between the quality of life of elderly patients with hypertension and family care, so as to provide reference for improving the quality of life of elderly patients with hypertension. Methods Elderly patients with clinically qualified hypertension were investigated using the family concern index questionnaire (APGAR). According to the questionnaire results, the score of 0~6 was divided into the family dysfunction group, and 7~10 was divided into the family normal function group. Then the quality of life survey was conducted for the two groups of elderly patients using the WHO Quality of Life Brief table (WHOQOL-BREF). The quality of life was compared between the two groups and the correlation between family care and quality of life was analyzed. Results Of the 120 elderly patients with hypertension, 47(39.20%) were in the family dysfunction group, APGAR score were (4.51±0.93) points, WHOQOL-BREF score were (65.66±10.80)points. There were 73 cases (61.80%)in the normal family function group, APGAR score were (8.77±0.64)points, WHOQOL-BREF score were (82.23±7.70)points.The APGAR score and WHOQOL-BREF score of the two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that APGAR score and WHOQOL-BREF score were positively correlated in elderly patients with hypertension (r=0.701, P<0.05). Conclusions The family care degree and quality of life in elderly patients with hypertension is positively correlated, the higher the family care of the elderly patients, the higher the quality of life of patients. Key words: Elderly patients with hypertension; Family care; Quality of life; Correlation
