Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression of CD133 and osteopontin (OPN) and their relation to pathological features in human brain glioma. Methods The expression levels of CD133 and OPN in 55 cases of human brain glioma tissues and 16 cases of normal brain tissues were detected by using immunohistochemical method. Results The expression rate of CD133 in brain glioma tissues was higher than that of normal brain tissues (63.64% vs.12.50%,P <0.01),and that of OPN in brain glioma tissues was higher than that of normal brain tissues (78.18% vs.6.25%,P<0.01).The expressions of CD133 and OPN was related to histological grades of glioma (P < 0.05).Conclusion The expressions of CD133 and OPN is closely related to the malignant behaviors of glioma. Key words: Glioma; CD133 ; Osteopontin; Immunohistochemical method
