Abstract

To investigate the correlation between ash flow temperature (FT) and its average mole ionic potential (Iaverage), the FT of ten coals were tested by ash fusion temperature analyzer, and ash compositions were analyzed on an X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. An approximately linear relationship between the FT and its Iaverage was found: FT=509.12+17.98Iaverage, and its R-squared value was 0.9054. The experimental FTs were all consistent with the linear relationship in the range of measuring error. The correlation might be more accurate among low sulfur and low calcium coal.
