Abstract

The present investigation was carried out at Experimental field, Division of Vegetable Science, SKUAST-K, Shalimar during rabi 2019. Twenty-eight genotypes of turnip were evaluated in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications for each genotype. Observations in this experiment revealed that root yield/ha was positively and significantly associated with all the traits except petiole length indicating that the direct selection of all the traits except petiole length will be rewarding. Path coefficient analysis depicted considerable amount of direct positive effect of component traits viz., root length, root breadth, leaves per plant, total plant weight, total root weight, total shoot weight, root shoot ratio and root compactness on dependent trait i.e root yield/ha indicating that the direct selection of these traits will be effective for improving the root yield of turnip
