Abstract

CO2 emissions are of global concern because of climate change. China has become the largest CO2 emitter in the world and presently accounts for 30% of global emissions. This paper selects the energy consumption from 1990 to 2018, combined with the carbon emission coefficients of various energy sources to calculate the carbon emissions of each year to obtain the carbon emission time series, and then selects the renewable energy consumption from 1990 to 2018 to obtain the time series. The two series use Eviews to perform unit root test, cointegration test and Granger causality test to conclude that there is a long-term cointegration relationship between renewable energy consumption and total carbon emissions; there is only between renewable energy and carbon emissions for a single cause and effect relationship, an increase in renewable energy consumption will reduce carbon emissions, and carbon emissions will not have a significant impact on renewable energy.
