Abstract
High-carbon chromium steel is a main material to make bearings, owing to the notable wear resistance. However, researches on the abradability of this material in mixed lubrication are rarely available. Therefore, an approach by combining mixed lubrication simulation and ball-disc wear experiment was proposed to determine the correlation between oil film parameter and wear coefficient of GCr15 (AISI52100) bearing steel. Generous of ball-disc wear experiments were conducted under varied lubrication conditions to obtain matching wear coefficient. In terms of the simulations and experiments, the relationship between oil film parameter and wear coefficient was quantified. Furthermore, the analysis of the variation of wear coefficient with the factors in operating conditions demonstrated that the normal load and rotation velocity significantly affects wear coefficient.
