Abstract

Using an S-matrix approach, we construct the static nucleon-nucleon potential based on the topological chiral soliton model of the nucleon. We show that from correlated two-pion exchange in the scalar-isoscalar channel one finds the missing intermediate range attraction in the nucleon-nucleon potential. We compare our approach to dispersion theoretical models and discuss possible improvements.
