Abstract

A correlated finite-temperature Hartree-Fock (FTHF) approximation is examined in a three-level U(3) fermion model and compared with conventional FTHF and exact canonical results. It is seen that the correlated treatment is able to yield a more reliable picture of the thermal behavior for a finite number of particles, which may differ substantially from that given by conventional FTHF.
