Abstract

The present study takes as main goal the establishment of the relationship between the Students'Attitudes in relation with Natural Sciences and their results in the test SABER 11 in Educational Institutions in Sincelejo. It is said that favorable attitudes towards sciences on the part of the students generate good results. This premise was useful to address without falling with it in a bias that induces to a mistake when trying to fit results obtained to the fulfilment of the same one. The work starts with the application of an instrument containing ten items extracted from the Protocol of attitudes towards science, adapted for Colombia, to Students in eleventh grade of 19 educational institutions in Sincelejo. The results show the identification of four groups of students where the majority group a moderate favourability presents favorable attitudes towards sciences, the second group, the third group with slightly convenient attitudes and a very limited group showed unfavorable attitudes towards sciences. Subsequently became a correlational study between these attitudes and outcomes of students of the IE of Sincelejo in the area of natural sciences using the SPSS specialized statistical program and it was observed that the correlations between the attitudes in relation with sciences and the test PRUEBAS SABER 11 de 2012 are highly significant, according to the value of the correlation coefficient of Pearson 0,963. Which means that the correlations between the two are significantly positive. Thus, it is confirmed that good attitudes in relation with sciences generate good performance.
