Abstract

Abstract A corrective action process is typically instituted in the development process, by the development organization, to control all discrepancies, problems, and other issues that warrant control formally. The control process acts to ensure that the actions are properly documented, controlled, and accounted for. All actions, through the process, are brought to closure by completing the action or providing an acceptable description of the closure. The typical requirements for a corrective action process are given. In a large systems environment typical of many government organizations, the corrective action system is a formal requirement placed on items that are under configuration control. In practice, a corrective action system can be employed in a wider circumstance, say, in informal development projects. Whether one is bound by a particular “process regulation or policy,” a corrective action system is a disciplined methodology that must be considered for serious software development projects.
