Abstract

Dr. Michael Glick's editorial in the September issue of JADA, “Distorting, Misrepresenting and Slanting Research Results” (JADA;141[9]:1049–1050), contained an error. He wrote that systematic reviews and meta-analyses have become the foundation for the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines, adding that “[t]hese types of reviews rely solely on published material, which is unfortunate … .” On the contrary, unpublished material consistently is included in reviews conducted by, among others, the Cochrane Collaboration and the Evidence-based Practice Center Program of the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
