Abstract

The proof of Proposition 2.6 in [1, p. 526 from line 7 on] should read: in V. Letting at be the unique trace-scaling 1-parameter group on Ro, 1, the uniqueness of the continuous decomposition for type III, inclusions entails that the pairs of type III1 factors obtained by taking the crossed products of B ? Ro,I c A ? Ro,I with d(6e) X a are all nonconjugate for different e 's but their type III towers are all equal to that of N c M since (Bk n A)(0) = (Bk n A)0(08) . Q.E.D.
