Abstract

To the EditorIn the 15 February 2008 issue of Infectious Diseases, Anthony et al. [1] state, in the Methods section of their article, that the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute interpretive criteria for Enterobacteriaceae were used for both Enterobacteriaceae and A. baumannii (susceptible MIC, ^2 /?g/mL; intermediate MIC, >2 or <8 jLtg/mL; resistant MIC, ^8 /?g/mL) (p. 567). The authors incorrectly cited the and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) as the source for the interpretive criteria. There are no established CLSI interpretive criteria [2] for tigecycline, because the manufacturer has not requested that the CLSI establish and publish interpretive criteria for tigecycline in their laboratory standards.
