Abstract

It has just come to the authors' attention that the strain of Anaplasma phagocytophilum reported in this article was the Webster strain and not the MRK strain. The first sentence in the Materials and methods, section Bacterial strain should therefore read The A. phagocytophilum Webster strain (formerly HGE agent Webster strain) was cultured in HL60 cells grown in RPMI 1640 medium supplemented with 1% fetal calf serum with 5% CO2. In accordance, the original reference 43 needs to be replaced with: Asanovich, K. M., Bakken, J. S., Madigan, J. E., Aguero-Rosenfeld, M., Wormser, G. P. and Dumler, J.
