Abstract

AbstractA unidirectional reflective Gires–Tournois interferometer consisting of a highly reflective metallic mirror, an absorbing semitransparent metallic layer, and a dielectric layer between them, is correctly analyzed using the method of single expression (MSE). The interferometer's spectral characteristics versus the distance between the mirrors for different values of semitransparent metallic layer thickness are obtained. Optimal parameters of the interferometer for maximal reflection and maximal absorption of light are defined. Electric‐field and power‐flow density distributions within the whole structure of the interferometer for maximal reflection and absorption are obtained. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
