Abstract

12 2 Abstract: In the age of extreme expansion of information space and origination of new communication technologies a modern human lives in a particular audio-visual medium. Significant changes in political and economical life of German-speaking society in the second half of the 20 century have constant impact on th vocabulary content of the modern German language. In particular, the scope and content of the modern German phraseology are significantly influenced by mass media. The article discusses the sources of origin of winged expressions oriented at mass culture and mass media. Semantics and peculiar features of functioning of phraseological units of the German language are analyzed with consideration for political, economical and social changes in the German society.
