Abstract
Chapter 6 provides a corpus-based exploration of the distribution of health translations using a trend analysis and the subsequent statistical modelling of variant health translations in Chinese research publication. It was found that health terms which form the culturally adapted translation group occurred much more frequently in Chinese research publications, when compared to entirely newly created translations or word-by-word literal translations without adequate cultural and linguistic adaptation. Chapter 6 utilises statistical measures produced by large-scale databases to develop useful indicators for the study of the patterns of the distribution of health translation variants in the target language and social context.
