Abstract
The term “cerebral disconnection” has been used to describe surgical procedures that sever selected interhemispheric white matter tracts. The connections most often divided are the corpus callosum and hippocampal commissure, although the anterior commissure, massa intermedia, and one fornix have been sectioned in some patients. Currently, centers performing this type of surgery limit divisions to a partial anterior or complete corpus callosotomy, usually including the hippocampal commissure.
