Abstract

This volume offers a redefinition of the welfare state a power process that involves shifts in relative emphasis on both corporate and social welfare processes and expenditures. Through an analysis of the 1989 savings and loan bailout, the authors reveal the dynamics of the welfare process, and provide central case studies and a conceptual framework for policy debates on welfare as we know it.
