Abstract

This paper examines the relationship between the quality of corporate governance and the stock performance of companies listed in the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE). The results indicate that companies with superior corporate governance function exhibit a higher stock return. However the relationship seems to weaken when adjusting for differences in market risk (beta) and book value to market value ratios.
