Abstract

Introduction: Computed tomography (CT) of the pulmonary veins is an essential step prior to pulmonary vein isolation for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the quality of coronary visualisation on these studies is variable. Improvement in temporal resolution with newer generation CT scanners allows diagnostic coronary CT angiography (CCTA) without heart rate control. We prospectively performed CCTA for patients prior to pulmonary vein isolation to determine the prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD).
