Abstract

The parameters of type II radio bursts (RBII) and related coronal mass ejections (CMEs), with regard to the class of the accompanying flares that occurred from 1997 to 2012, as well as the influence of the global solar magnetic field (GSMF) strength and structure on these phenomena, were studied. It was shown that RBII tend to form when the GSMF is stable and are more numerous when the GSMF sector structure predominates. The GSMF reorganization instants are characterized by a decrease in the magnetic field strength and electron density, which can explain why the number of weak CMEs increases at these instants. The CMEs related to RBII compose a distinct CME population. The parameters of these CMEs are quite different from those of all CMEs observed during the same period.
