Abstract
AbstractCovering the basic aspects on biomechanical properties of the cornea, my talk will deal with the definition of it. I will refer to both the viscous and the elastic behaviour of the cornea, how these properties change naturally through age and pathologically in case of a corneal diseases. I will briefly analyse basic terms such as visco‐elasticity, stress–strain curve, elastic modulus, stiffness and hysteresis, how these parameters help us understand the corneal tissue better and how this understanding becomes a valuable diagnostic tool.
