Abstract

The article proposes that the well-known story of Cormac mac Airt’s judgement concerning the trespassing sheep, which establishes him as the prototypical just ruler, represents an early borrowing from Middle-Eastern narrative tradition, where the same story is associated with the biblical king Solomon.
