Abstract

On the basis of specific features of the unit cell parameters of nanocrystals of variable composition synthesized via hydrothermal route, formation of crystalline core–amorphous shell nanoparticles has been suggested [1, 2]. The present work deals with combined study of the structure of nanoparticles of variable composition forming in the ZrO 2 –Gd 2 O 3 – H2 O system. This study has revealed that hydrother mal treatment of coprecipitated zirconium and gado linium hydroxides can result in formation of compos ite core–shell nanoparticles. Nanoparticles with a fluorite structure were obtained by hydrothermal dehydration of hydroxides jointly precipitated from the ZrO2–Gd2O3 system in a wide range of component ratios as described in [3]. Hydrothermal treatment was carried out at 400°С and ≈70 MPa for 4 h. Distilled water was used as a hydro thermal fluid. The elemental composition of the samples was )
