Abstract
This paper presents the choices made by faculty members of perodical titles they considered to be basic, or core, for academic libraries at institutions offering the master's degree in the areas of art, literature, history, psychology, mathematics and physics. The methodology used in the construction of the six core lists is explained, and the compilations are offered as examples of the type of checklists which can be developed and used as tools in collection development activities. There has been no attempt to present the core lists developed for this study as anything more than representative selections of knowledgeable faculty in selected subject areas.
