Abstract

Techniques of surface structural analysis based on core-level excitation in molecules are briefly reviewed. Using soft X-ray radiation the phenomena of photoionisation and photoabsorption can be used not only to determine orientation but also to measure precisely structural parameters such as nearest neighbour distances, adsorption site, intramolecular separations and bond angles.
