Abstract

Public Law 94-553 became effective January 1, 1978. This law contains a revision of the Copyright Law of the U.S. Family life writers and educators must become knowledgable about the legal protections and restrictions upon their acts. Definitions of copyright, guidelines for fair use of copyrighted works, and legal penalties for infringement are essential information. Selected cases indicate the legal base for the current status of copyright law relevant to family life educators. Additional legal status will come from cases testing new law.
