Abstract

Fast closed-cycle transverse flow can be achieved in metal-vapor lasers by means of an evaporation-condensation cycle, with gravity return of the condensate. A small double-pulsed copper-vapor laser utilizing this technique operates at rates in excess of 5 \times 10^{4} pps.
